The Galerie Dior, in the historic address of Avenue Montaigne, is the perfect setting for the retrospective dedicated to the great German photographer and his relationship with the House of Dior. “Gallerie Dior/Lindbergh”

Extraordinary photographs by one of the greatest fashion photographers, Peter Lindbergh, in which the protagonists are Dior dresses. Black and white photos, which become cinematic frames and tell stories.

I have always loved Peter Lindbergh’s work immensely, I have many of his monographs and I have dedicated more than one post to his creative genius (https://www.beatricebrandini.it/peter-lindbergh-the-magnificent-neorealist-of-photography/?lang=en). In fact, I believe that his photographs, at a time when top models and glossy images of the Nineties were all the rage, are a breath of fresh air, because they are natural, not posed, never “constructed”, in a few words HUMAN.

Some glimpses of the exhibition “Galerie Dior / Lindbergh”

Peter made the models he used, even when they were called Christy, Naomi, Linda, Claudia…, natural, they didn’t seem too concerned about appearing perfect. There was a connection between the photographer and the model, a feeling that shines through in every image.

The photographer’s connection with the French fashion house dates back to the 1980s, when Lindbergh began photographing Dior garments during the time of Marc Bohan. In the exhibition, in fact, it is also possible to admire the evolution of the creative directors who have succeeded one another at the helm of the maison, such as Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons, Maria Grazia Chiuri, and in the past Yves Saint Laurent or Marc Bohan.

The exhibition scheduled until May 4, 2025, stages the creative dialogue between a master of photography, a brand that has made beauty and refinement its hallmark, and an avant-garde, distinctive magazine, always one step ahead, especially in the direction of the unforgettable Franca Sozzani (many of the shots featured in the pages of Vogue Italia).

“My favorite subject has always been women. I follow them closely so that they can express themselves and affirm their truth. I chase a mystery, I seek a lesson.” Peter Lindbergh.

An unmissable exhibition, whose combination of fashion and photography is perfect.

Good life to all!
