The exhibition intends to show the public an important collection of multiples produced by Carol Rama between 1993 and 2005, coming from the Franco Masoero and Alexandra Wetzel Collection, which retrace all the themes that have accompanied the poetics of this extraordinary artist.

CAROL RAMA. Unique Multiples

On the printed sheet, Carol Rama often made watercolor interventions to intensify her story, or she used red nail polish to enrich her work with a coupé du theater.

But it was never “calculated”, nothing in Carol Rama’s world is an end in itself, her transgression was her essence, her way of expressing her interiority, that of a kind and profound woman.

The protagonists, her characters, the subjects in Carol Rama’s works, find a confirmation in her story. Truncated female bodies, beds, wheelchairs, animals and shoes, a complex artistic imagery but full of poetics.

Rama’s unique multiples are conceived and created by the artist with the same creativity and freedom as the unique pieces, often the same subject is also re-proposed with a pictorial intervention made by hand, on the printed sheet, therefore art is no longer simply multiplied but becomes the FREEDOM of Carol Rama.

I have already talked about Carol Rama in a post from a some years ago (2014), https://www.beatricebrandini.it/carol-rama-i-paint-first-of-all-to-heal/?lang=en

if you want go and read it again because it tells of a great artist, capable of anticipating themes that today seem contemporary to us.

A life characterized by private pain, the loss of her father and the hospitalization of her mother, which have sparked an authentic and profound creativity since her debut in the 1930s.

Marginalized for decades, rediscovered and celebrated only in the 1990s, even today Carol Rama’s work is an inspiration for all of us.

The location Villa delle Rose is an added value to the exhibition, a way to admire an elegant 18th century building, inside the large city park, Villa delle Rose.
