A few days ago, in the splendid Sala della Musica at the Zeffirelli Foundation, the anthological exhibition dedicated to Renato Balestra: Celeblueation was inaugurated. One of the most famous Italian fashion talents in the world.

It is nice to see how two great masters, Zeffirelli and Balestra, friends and collaborators alive, met in this magical place. Two excellent brands that the world has known, appreciated and rewarded, both animated by great enthusiasm and undisputed talent.

The exhibition, produced by Armando Fusco and strongly desired by Pippo Zeffirelli, President of the Foundation named after Maestro Franco, features around 300 pieces including sketches, drawings and clothes, witnesses of a path of costume and history.

Balestra, throughout his rich career, has dressed Princesses, First Ladies and protagonists of the world jet set. Among the most important and loyal customers are Empress Farah Diba, First Lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos, Princess Noor Hamzah of Jordan and many others. He also designed collections of pret-à-porter, haute couture, accessories and splendid stage costumes for theatrical works such as Rossini’s Cinderella (Belgrade Opera Theater), for the Musical Cindarella produced by Broadway – Asia Entertainment, etc. . Of course also for a performance under the direction of Maestro Zeffirelli, “So it is (if you like)”, by Luigi Pirandello.

The exhibition pays tribute to a great couturier (the dresses present are beautiful), faithful to his idea of fashion and aesthetics, a person with an innate class, a very lucid man (he was born in 1924!) and self-deprecating; a kind soul who still has dreams and goals to achieve. Great Balestra, a lesson for the new generations and for these times a little too fast and decidedly a little vulgar..

The exhibition will be open until February 2nd, and it is really worth a visit. You can attend a show full of fashion, art and culture. Just as suggestive is the same location, the Sala della Musica, the oratory of the monumental complex of San Firenze, built in the second half of the seventeenth century and the only completely Baroque architecture in Florence.

Good life to everyone!

Beatrice
