“Community” by Beatrice Brandini

Teatro delle relazioni is a project promoted and organized by IED Firenze and Palazzo Strozzi, which explores the concept of community and its different exceptions: community as a space of belonging that shapes our way of living and being together, but also community as a practice of artistic creation to create new models of sharing.

The project is developed in two locations: an exhibition at the new visual arts center of IED Florence, inside the former Teatro dell’Oriuolo (7 November – 20 December) and a three-day performance in the Strozzina spaces at Palazzo Strozzi (28-30 November) created in collaboration with the Fondazione Hilary Markus Recordati.

Through the works of Annamaria Ajmone, Agnese Banti, Aleksandar Đuravčević, Sara Leghissa, Franco Menicagli, Scuola di Santa Rosa (Francesco Lauretta and Luigi Presicce) and Wurmkos, the exhibition opens a reflection on the value of relationships in our present by investigating different forms of conviviality, social transformation and belonging.

“The theme chosen this year, community and its forms of relationship, places central reflections on the definition of our present and the imagination of our future…” Benedetta Lenzi, director of IED Florence.

Waiting for the Press Conference

Teatro delle relazioni is divided into three intertwined narrative lines, Ricorda, Immagina and Non dorme, which invite the audience to rediscover the shared memory of communities.

Time: Monday – Friday, 8:30 – 18:30. Free admission.

It is nice that we are talking about community in a historical period like this. As the mother of a teenager, I believe it is essential to rediscover it because it is a word increasingly distant from our lives. The pandemic, although it seems like it happened a century ago, has scaled down human relationships, especially among young people. But it is above all technology, on which we depend, that isolates us, distancing us from reality. Teatro delle relazioni seeks to encourage and stimulate human bonds. A difficult but certainly praiseworthy intent.

Good life to all!

Beatrice
