TRENDS: How we will dress next Winter (2023-24): MILAN

Let’s go back to find out what we will wear next Fall/Winter from the Milan catwalks that have just ended.

I know, maybe for many friends abroad I seem biased, but believe me I’m not when I say that Milan has presented some exciting fashion shows, where creativity, beauty, well-made and wearability have been the absolute protagonists. Yes, because what distinguishes Italian maisons and designers from the rest of the world is that their creations, although always very imaginative, are also faithfully wearable.

I start with the ANIMALIER, a theme now present and consistent in almost all the collections. The novelty is that it is less obvious than in the past, and above all it is linked to black (the real superstar color in Milan), since the most represented fleece was perhaps the zebra one, or in any case optical. The combinations with pink and total black are also interesting.

Another proposal presented almost everywhere is that of LEATHER. For some seasons we have seen it protagonist of the catwalks, but in this new season, more than ever, it is presented in an innovative way, used for example for beautiful evening dresses or tailored outerwear. Also interesting is the coconut or ostrich version, luxuriously cheeky.

It is the non-color, hyper-refined color par excellence, i.e. GRAY, and we have never seen it as the protagonist everywhere this season (even in London and New York, see my previous post). It is absolutely discreet, can be combined with everything, it can become an everyday office item, as well as for the evening, depending on the cut of the suit. They presented it in a thousand shades and in very different interpretations, from wool to jersey, from leather to velvet. But always Grey!

RED Another protagonist color of the next season. It is important that it is present together with more “gloomy” tones such as gray and black; a touch of color and grit, a shade that goes well with black, white, gray but above all, creatively, with pink.
